Why LMS Online Training Helps Students Promote Themselves to Employers

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

More students are looking to LMS online courses as a first step in a career change.

If you are switching careers, ensure that you have developed a strong strategy for achieving your career change goals. Take your time; rushing into an online course or certification program may mean you take on something you’re not prepared for, or even interested in. Starting on a new career path will require a some patience, time, and strategizing. In spite of the flexibility and convenience of e-learning programs, you will probably spend a similar amount of time on your online course as you would devote to a traditional course.

It’s a known fact that to obtain a better fitting career, further education and training is often the best solution. However, nearly equally important to the months or years of education you’ve worked hard to complete is how effectively you sell your abilities in person and on paper at hiring time.

Your job search might begin before or after you’ve finished an online course. Before you write your updated resume or interview for a job, be sure to brainstorm the abilities that you have picked up throughout your life, that may apply to your new job. Most of us have an array of transferable skills that we may not even consciously recognize as skills.

Demonstrating your transferable skills to potential employers is a great way to boost your resume as well as your confidence to obtain the new job. Transferable skills are typically a diverse collection of abilities that have developed in different parts of your life, such as previous jobs, education, sports, parenting and childcare, hobbies, etc.

Transferable skills are abilities like multi-tasking, assigning responsibility, evaluating work, motivating coworkers, attention to detail, and many more. If something you do well applies to the job you desire, it is a transferable skill.

Some abilities are more tangible that others. Though it may be difficult in a short interview to demonstrate to an employer your ability to motivate coworkers or juggle tasks, technical skills are much more convenient to demonstrate. Moreover, they look impressive on resumes. Despite the importance of all kinds of transferable skills, having a few concrete technical skills under your belt may help you out significantly in a world increasingly dependent on technology and the skills needed to manage it.

Therefore, those looking to change careers may consider taking an LMS course or two in technical skills. But no matter the type of certification or training program, be sure to choose an LMS course that fits perfectly with your professional goals and helps you achieve them in an efficient and cost-effective way.

Uplift Education Quality through LMS

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Education plays an important role in a person’s existence. | The school is the body responsible to ensure that learning is delivered to the students in the most effective manner, otherwise, the school would just turn out to be a mere structure of classrooms.

Violence has been found to contribute to the deterioration of the quality of education in America. As one of the top problems of public schools, academic activities and the core competency of the institution becomes ineffective since the environment is no longer conducive for learning. Fighting, gang activities, intimidating, thefts are the incidences that distract the learning atmosphere. Unquestionably, it is the school administrator that is the responsible party and not the attackers, parents, nor the government.

It is evident that the school administrators carry the burden of resolving the issue of violence. In as much as people would expect more from the local government, it can only do as much because of the differences in school culture, beliefs and practice. In effect, students of different schools react to different situations – each has a unique profile from the others. Hence, the Department of Education strongly believes that there is no absolute solution to the problem since it is school-specific.

Knowing the nature of the issue, the school administrators have the absolute power to fix the problem. And the plausible solution to the problem is a learning management system. All public schools can adopt an LMS to resolve violence and restore the quality of education. An LMS is software that is capable of monitoring and managing training and education online. Development and learning of students is ensured because these become the fundamental concentration of the school. Through an LMS, the performance of the students can be measured objectively, in contrast to the current grading system.

Since violence involves physical force, then virtual interaction through the LMS is the perfect solution for the school issue. The online interaction will curb student-to-student relationship to relevant topic discussions. Distractions such as class interruptions because of violence incidents are eliminated since the students learn in their respective personal spaces. The LMS can also help the students enrich knowledge through the internet technology – encouraging students to get involved into learning more. Further, the LMS can measure student performance readily.

The quality of education in the public schools can be uplifted with the elimination of school violence. The problem of school violence can be resolved by the administrators through a learning management system, which can be made universal across America.

Practice LMS for Quality Education

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

It is the primary role of the school to guarantee that education is carried out operatively to the learners. A student who does not gain anything from a school could mean that the system is defunct, or the environment is inappropriate for learning.

The serious problem of school violence is the primary liability of the schools. As claimed by the U.S. Department of Education, the nature of the problem requires area-specific solutions; hence it cannot impose a universal resolution. Since different schools have various beliefs, teachings and cultures, it is expected that the students of such react variedly to different situations. Then, there is no absolute anti-violence program which can mend the issue.

The nature of virtual learning can bring many benefits to students. First, the students are no longer exposed to an environment where learning can be disrupted because of violent incidences such as fights and theft. Since learning is gained in the confines and safety of each students respective areas, student inputs and outputs are expected to be of sensible quality. Second, there will no longer be unproductive periods when classes are put off because of violence settlement. In other words, the duration of learning is maximized with an LMS; hence education becomes intensive. Third, an LMS can train and influence the perception of students in terms of taking full responsibility of every task assigned online. Lastly, an LMS can check the degree of competency that every student has developed along the course.

The quality of education in the public schools can be uplifted with the elimination of school violence. The problem of school violence can be resolved by the administrators through a learning management system, which can be made universal across America.

Improve Education System Through LMS

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

The success of man can be rooted from his education attainment. The society, as the greatest influencer of its citizens, should be able to facilitate the best education quality that schools can provide. After all it is the same entity-the society-that will benefit from the fruits of what it cultivated.

One of the common public school problems in the United States today is racial discrimination. Sad but true, for the longest time, the minority group such as the African American race is still in battle for their rights and privilege as citizens of the country. Without surprise, it not only the minority students who have to live with being discriminated in school, but also the educators who are non-white. This crisis has been crippling the quality of education in public schools because it is not seriously condemned.

The primary reason for African American and other minority students to perform poorly in school is inferiority complex. The colour of their skin becomes an automatic declaration of weakness, inadequacy, and a disability in school or in the society. In effect, minority students, for the longest time, are hesitant to spread their wings-just until America elected for the first black president. Interestingly, studies on the success of home-schooled students in the past showed that the minority students actually faired equally well with the performance of the whites. When the same standardized tests were administered in public schools, turned out that the percentile score of the whites outweighed that of the minority’s. These test results simply show that discrimination principally impedes the learning opportunities of students belonging to the minority group.

In the same line, educators who belong to the minority group experience being prejudiced specifically in employment when they are being retrenched. (Un)intentionally, the present administration’s turnaround plan in public education “streamlined” the African American veteran educators, but surprisingly replaced them with younger whites.

Is there a chance for this long-time overdue racial issue to get solved?

The best way to dart the problem head on is adopting a learning management system or LMS. An LMS, software, can assist public schools in tracking, delivering, and managing education and training in the web. It can answer administrative undertakings of schools such as record-keeping, online training and discussions, and many more. How can LMS resolve discrimination in school? Simple-since LMS is an online set-up, once adopted by schools, students will no longer need to be physically present in the school campus. This means that the chance of an African American student of being bullied or intimidated in schools will slim down, if not totally cut off. The LMS will encourage every student from any race to express his opinions and insights through online discussions without the fear of rejection. Similarly, since the LMS is a center for development course work of educators, the teachers themselves do not have to be apprehensive about their age, colour, or the like. The school should be able to keep the best educators instead of laying them off. Finally, since an LMS can measure the performance of each student based on inputs, this ensures students and parents as well that equal treatment is prevailing in gaining merits. Unlike in a classroom set-up, biases or favouritism on selected students have no chance of occurring.

Virtual learning has a lot of benefits and is very promising for the students of this generation of technology. The schools should be able to tap and address the needs and interest of their students. A learning management system can do a lot of convenience, practicality and effectiveness not only for the students, but for the school as well. The quality of education in the country can be restored through a learning management system because of the character-building that it also demands from the students.

Medical Matters and LMS Training

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

LMS training can serve a number of medical and social functions. In this day and age, with so much information within our easy reach, it’s surprising that most people still don’t understand their own bodies. “Know thyself” were the words of wisdom of the ancient Greeks. And in an ever-globalizing world, “Know each other” may be the advice we pass down to our children.

Unless you’re a medical student or practitioner, you’re probably unfamiliar with at least half of the hundreds of activities that are taking place in your body as you read this article. Personally I know Im one of those people.

Online medical courses include those in nursing, pharmacy, radiologic science, and food and nutrition. Medical students often use LMS training only to complement real-life experience, but individuals can also benefit from such courseware.

LMS training is a versatile tool in the medical community, and can serve a number of purposes.

For example, LMS training can be deployed for medical management purposes on topics like cultural sensitivity. Increasingly, doctors and nurses are being called on to understand cross-cultural issues. Aetna is one company that provides such training using online courseware.

Stemming in part from the fact that many Latinos in the U.S. come from countries in which health care is free, chronic diseases like diabetes disproportionately affect this demographic.

And of course, language differences drastically affect doctor-patient relationships.

In response to this situation, LMS training can provide doctors and nurses with ethnic diversity videos and Spanish resources which cover various medical issues.

Just like any training program, whether it’s LMS training or face-to-face, rewards are important to ensure student success. For instance, Aetna provides credit for continuing education requirements to those who complete the training.

Tools offered by a robust LMS include video, audio, and podcast-creating tools, as well as demo and screen-recording features. Course creators can design and customize their own learning material for any kind of training necessary. LMS training is simple, efficient, and low-cost. Thanks in part to online resources and courseware, people both inside and outside the medical field are coming to feel confident helping not only themselves, but each other.

Flex Language Muscles with LMS Online Courses

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Education, only 8.6 out of every 100 college credits achieved by U.S. students are for foreign language acquisition, despite the growing use of LMS online language programs. Contrast this figure to the 56% of Europeans at ease with at least one other language, according to a recent Eurobarometer survey. It’s a sad but true stereotype about Americans–most of us are more or less limited to our mastery of English.

The United States is one of the richest countries on the planet, with access to the finest and most innovative technology. Considering this fact, why aren’t we taking advantage of every resource available to us in language acquisition, such as face-to-face and virtual tutors, and university and LMS online courses?

Of course, LMS online language courses are in a category of their own. Unlike many other topics which survive on paper, language needs to come off the page, into the students head, and out of the mouth–often.

In order to gain full mastery over a language, a whole lot of word and sound repetition is required. Sure, an online course can require students to listen to and repeat words, without someone there to provide feedback a students pronunciation may be completely off. For this reason, blended language learning is best. And truly, most e-learning works best with complemented by face-to-face education.

When cared for and supplemented by face-to-face training, an LMS online language course can work wonders. In high schools especially, online language is part of the solution to many challenges that schools face, including limited language course offerings, shortages of language instructors, a lack of interest in language acquisition, the rise in home-schooling, and the lack of AP classes, physical space, and funding. During a heightening concern over the nation’s school system, schools are prompted to think more creatively about how to maintain the quality of their education.

When required interaction and language practice with other students is online, shyer students may feel more comfortable. Online programs like VoIP services, LMSs, podcasts, instant messaging, and screen and audio recordings are just a few ways language students can apply and practice their second tongues.

Virtual Worlds and “Serious Games” Inspire Learning Management Systems

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

As the economic disaster tightens the budgets of organizations and businesses worldwide, more are turning to online training and learning management systems to handle their training.

And parallel to the increase in organizations seeking online training solutions is the expansion of LMS technology. These days LMS courseware creators are designing online training software that seems game-like in nature, using more interactive and engaging tools.

Fun and interactive learning systems are becoming the new thing in online training. Some organizations and universities have made plans to integrate, or are already integrating virtual world software into their training systems.

Based on the popularity of virtual worlds, it may not be a bad idea. EMarketer estimates that 24 percent of the 34.3 million million users under 19 years old participated in a virtual world at least monthly in 2007, a figure that is predicted to jump to 53 percent by 2011. As people become more familiar with virtual world navigation, these online skills, interactions and roles will translate more easily into a professional or educational setting.

Of course, when you think of virtual worlds, teenage gamers may come to mind. But many organizations and universities have found that virtual worlds harbor enormous potential as learning tools.

One benefit is that virtual worlds permit students to carry out tasks that might not be possible in the physical world due to circumstances including personal, financial, locational or other circumstances.

As in a learning management system, a virtual world allows educators and trainers to share videos, simulations, and other media with students. Acting as an avatar, students can also interact with each other, or perform tasks to reveal knowledge.

“Serious game” virtual worlds are used in professional and academic education to teach various topics, from frog dissection for kids to filling a cavity for dental hygienists.

If used well, online tools like “serious games” and LMSs allow students to interact with learning content to an extent that traditional e-learning courses never quite matched. Using a powerful LMS, audio and video material can be created including simulations, demos, screen recordings, podcasts, and more.

Unfortunately, while virtual worlds offer vast potential as a learning system and interactive training space for professionals and students, they also have a long way to go before that ideal is an affordable mainstream reality. While “serious games” are still in the testing years, learning management system software providers are stepping up their game to offer a greater fun factor, in order to compete in an increasingly engaging online education world.
