Online Middle Schools And Academies

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Homeschooling has become known for providing good education to students all over the world. It has become more popular and more parents have been deciding to enroll their kids in home schools. A reason for this is with home schools, parents can have peace of mind with regards to their child’s security, because the pupil studies at home. Another reason is that parents can give their children the best education and personally monitor their childrens progress at the same time, because usually, the parents themselves are their childrens teachers. The most popular among these home schools, is the online academy.

Online schools were developed years ago, to allow the working class individuals to return to school to either earn a masters or doctorate degree, or to finish the courses they were not able to finish. Then, years later, online high schools became popular among families and students, and were mostly encouraged to students with erratic schedules like celebrities, professional athletes and the like. Nowadays, the services and provisions of these online colleges and high schools are available to middle school students as well through an online middle school.

The way an online academy is structured is basically the same as the way a traditional middle school is. The main difference is that online middle schools offer different approach to achieving a middle school diploma. It uses a unique, flexible approach that is computer based and focused on experiential learning, correspondence and self study. Those who run online middle schools believe and are convinced that each student has the right and privilege to complete middle school, but not all students are able to graduate under the traditional school setting.

You may have read or heard commentaries saying that enlisting your child in an online academy is not advised, because your child will not develop and grow fully. These articles and commentaries may have said that online schools deprive your child of social participation and involvement because he is isolated from his peers, because he studies alone, in your home. This is true to some extent, but not totally.

Yes, your child will be studying and working alone in front of the computer, unlike those in the traditional classroom setting, but the statement that he is isolated is not true. It is false that by studying online he is deprived of social participation. Your child is allowed, and encouraged by the online academy to interact with his fellow online students. They are able to discuss what they have learned with each other through online forums or chat rooms in the academy’s VPN.

What sets an online middle school apart from the traditional middle schools? An online academy allows you to customize your child’s educational plan while he works on achieving his diploma. He can work at his own pace and complete courses at his own pace because of the flexibility of schedules only an online middle school can offer.

Also, students who need to catch up with requirements can benefit much by studying in an online academy. Students of an online middle are allowed to take up advance courses, and are allowed to take remedial courses too; they are allowed to take the courses they have previously failed. Because the academic calendar of an online academy is not synchronized with that of the traditional middle schools, your child can begin at any time of the year.

See how great an online middle school is? Don’t wait too long, enroll your child in an online academy and take advantage of its benefits.

An online academy may be exactly what your kid requires to succeed in school. Classes are available for online middle school or high school.

The Truth about Online Schools

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Although online education is rapidly gaining acceptance, many people still struggle with misconceptions about attending an online school. Distance learning has many advantages, especially for working people who want to get additional certifications or degrees or people who have difficulty in attending a traditional school. It is not easy to convince them of the advantages without first dealing with negative ideas that prevent them from taking distance learning seriously.

Myth number 1 is that an online education is expensive. Fact is, tuition costs vary from one school to another, and this is applies not just to traditional schools, but online schools as well. Many offer reasonable rates, and in the case of online high schools, there are state-sponsored charter schools that offer distance learning for free.

One of the good things about online schools is that they allow students to get credit for courses they have taken in another school, so that they do not need to pay tuition for all the courses in the curriculum. This has the added advantage of lessening the amount of course work needed to earn a degree. Credit can also be obtained for relevant life experiences.

Online schools do not give good quality education. Truth: Unless the school is a diploma mill, online schools with proper accreditation are obliged to have curriculums that are comparable, if not better, than those in traditional schools. A prospective student can ask for a trial class and get feedback from past and present students and faculty to get a feel of the distance learning environment.

Myth number 3 is that the work done in online schools are easier or less challenging than in a traditional school. The truth is the workload is the same; it’s just that students schedules are more flexible. They will be scheduling their education around work, family and other obligations. This requires more discipline and motivation than is needed from a regular student.

The fact that school work is done independently, with contact with peers and teachers limited to chat or email, may lead some people to think that students are isolated and lacking in socialization. This is false, since socialization can be done not just within the classroom environment, but outside of it as well. There are some assignments that require collaboration with other distance learners.

Online schools are not respectable. Truth: Respectability is assured by proper accreditation. This is why would-be students are advised to stay away from institutions that are not accredited or still in the process of accreditation.

Getting a degree from a properly accredited school also ensures that the credits earned there can be transferred to another school, whether it’s also an online school or a traditional school. It also makes it easier for employers to accept, especially if the degree is from an institution associated with a traditional school, such as universities that offer online degree programs.

There are many reasons why people would enroll in an online academy to finish their schooling. Courses are available for online high school down to elementary school.

Giving An Infant A Lifetime Education

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

If you consider intelligence to be the ability of one to learn, then babies are born geniuses. Babies have the potential to learn almost anything. It is therefore the role of the parents to determine how this learning process will take place. Believe it or not but baby learning begins before birth. Babies in the womb are able to use their sense of hearing since their hearing senses are already fully developed by the fifth month.

Therefore the best time to start teaching your child is when they are still in the womb. Young brains are like sponges, absorbing everything around them. Since a baby’s brain builds itself through connections it forms in response to external stimuli, learning starts early in a child’s life. This is the time the brain is able to learn fastest and effortlessly. This means that skills like math, music and reading can be mastered effortlessly if learning starts at a young enough age.

The most avid students in the world are babies. This is because baby learning is already hardwired in the brain. Furthermore, the baggage of school and being subjected to tests, quizzes and examinations is not there. Therefore learning for the baby is pure enjoyment. Experts say that reading to a child from infancy regularly makes it easier for the child to read later on. Listening to you also helps a baby to become familiar with the basic rules and flow of language.

Indeed babies and books are a great mix. Try to read to your child for a few minutes everyday. Have books around with big illustrations that their little eyes can see, touch and feel. Let the child run his or her hands over the textures. Do not be discouraged if the child decides to learn by putting the book in their mouths. That is still part of the baby learning process.

Another way to help your child learn is through scribbling, simple-shape sticking and finger painting. These simple projects help boost a child’s motor skills. Let him or her stick circle, square and triangle stickers everywhere, even on himself. It is amazing how the baby learning processes take place. Remember also that children have an emotional IQ level that also needs to be developed. Toddlers already show signs of empathy by trying to comfort someone in distress by the time they are one year old. Let the child feel good while doing so by thanking him with a big “Wow, thanks for helping Mommy!” When babies are allowed to interact with their environment, the baby learning process is easy and effortless.

I like writing about babies and christian books on my audio books on cd website daily.

How Can Speed Reading Help You?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Just use these hints and you’ll increase your reading speed:

You can read lines of text, more easily, by reading groups of words at one time than reading a single word, and your reading speed increases when you just widen your eye span (peripheral vision).

1. Techniques will teach you have to activate hand-to-eye coordination, then you’ll be speed reading quickly and immediately. Improve your reading abilities for business or personal use with just a little practice. You can double, even triple your current rates of reading without hurting comprehension or retention.

There are different speed reading Methods for different kinds of reading material:

1. Fiction, especially the romance novels. Try speed reading a hot and passionate love scene. You can’t! I don’t speed read romance novels. I don’t know anyone who does.

2. Non-Fiction. Speed reading is perfect in this dimension. Where there is something to learn that is not based on the emotions speed reading is great. And it comes in various forms: newspapers with narrow columns, magazines, with slightly wider columns, books, computer screens, and in the mail and email.

Slow readers struggle. They cant identify the techniques to success and they struggle due to slowing down to identify words that don’t understand — they will see a particular word, slow down, think about its meaning, then restart the reading process. Perhaps they won’t sound out all of the words theyve been reading, but they will spend more time on some phrases than others. That’s because, they are just skimming across those small sections that are easy to understand.

Creating balance in comprehension and reading speed is what gives us our base reading speed. You will also need to establish a base-line reading speed for what you read the most. There are different techniques for different types of reading, with varying speeds, and comprehension rates.

Study speed reading, and practice doing the exercises, they will improve your reading speed drastically with practice. But, before you begin practicing the speed reading techniques, which you’ll learn in the Complete Speed Reading Program, let me suggest that you learn to coordinate your eye-to-pacing finger movement.

In the beginning suggest you reread the same material over and over, until you develop a well-coordinated reading speed. When you feel comfortable with it, your rate of speed will improve almost immediately almost 50%. Then, once you are comfortable practicing at that rate, move on to more advanced techniques that will increase your reading speed further.

Deliberate this:

1. You will be reading faster (scan read) pre-reading for important facts 300%.

2. You should use a 50% over the normal rate when reading for information saturation.

3. Post-read for quick review will be fast reading; just a fast scan 300-400% quicker.

4. For testing, scan before prepare for tests your score speed will be medium fast 200%.

That’s how easy it will be. Your mind will be trained to be the perfect learning machine. Just start right now with Complete Speed Reading Course, a beginner course, and intense in-depth program, and audio reinforcement. Guaranteed to bring you greater success.

Understanding the German Language with Ease

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The Rosetta Stone German language software is developed by Fairfield Language Technologies and is designed in way that you can teach yourself to learn and to speak the German language whenever you have time. The program is developed so well, that any one can understand the format that is utilized and students can easily teach themselves with this German language learning software.

What to Expect

The Rosetta Stone German language learning program utilizes a rather unique concept to teach the German language to students. This program uses image association to teach students vocabulary and help the student in learning how to speak German. The program also allows you to preview you the goals for each lesson before you begin with them. Additionally, this program provides the student with several German lesson ans tutorial videos.

The Rosetta Stone German language learning program has an excellent price compared to other language learning programs. What sets this program apart from other language learning programs is the heavy use of the German videos which include so many tutorials as well as any other language tutorials. This is very helpful and extremely useful for students who want to learn German thoroughly.

Highly Recommended Due to its Benefits

Big thumbs up to this German language program overall. It has a speech recognition program included with the package which is also one of the great things about this German language software program. What makes this program a hit is the fact that it contains writing, grammar, audio and visual images. On your computer the program is fairly easy to install. In whatever way, the means of support for this software is excellent. This software program’s self-help menu covers its bases along with a limited paper manual. In this German learning language software program an easy-to-access help button is present on every screen and there is also a toll-free number and email address for live support.

Other Things to Note

The program has very few drawbacks. It comes with excellent speech recognition software, but lacks the headset required to make it more effective, which is quite a shame. The manual provided with the software is rather limited, but customer service is otherwise outstanding. You receive two discs with the Rosetta Stone German Language software, one of which installs the programs to your computer while the other is used to run the program. It would have been nice if the discs could have been combined, but this system does tend to work brilliantly.

Miriam Price has had a marked interest in various languages and language software programs for many years. For further information, particularly on the Rosetta Stone German Tutorial and other Learn to Speak German products, check her online resource site today.

Using a Learning Management System in Your Institution

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

It is an inevitable need nowadays to have all classrooms ready with equipment that will keep the youth informed of the latest technologies available to them. However, this should not be an excuse for most institutions to overspend and just go with the most famous alternatives. There are available learning management systems available nowadays, just like the one from Coggno that does not only guarantee quality, but can promise an outstanding effectiveness and cost-efficiency, too. With a name trusted worldwide, one can’t be wrong with the different tools they have to offer.

With today’s economic worries, surely, cost will be a bit of a problem. The investments involving these technological wonders may be concerning for a small institution that would need to spend thousands of dollars just to get the right equipment set-up. Big ones may need millions just to get the ball rolling.

Just like planning any momentous event, institutions would need to spend serious time planning for this venture that shall include talks about the needs of the school and the kind of technology it would require in order to meet its objectives.

The most overlooked category by most institutions entering into such venture is the capacity of their staff to understand and navigate new technology. In this case, the technology that must be adapted by an institution should be the most efficient and easiest to navigate.

With all the benefits laid at hand, there is no doubt that the only way to go would be to engage in the LMS technology. With the one made by Coggno, different applications were actually integrated into one efficient application that makes it possible for a content developer to create modules and content faster and more efficiently. The productivity of the staff can be doubled, if this is the case. This also enhances the overall experience of the staff in developing content as what used to be a boring routine could be a very productive learning exercise.

The different interfaces integrated by Coggno’s LMS has made it possible for users to create content very easily, without the need of an IT helpdesk to be on the lookout for possible errors.

Putting Flash into play, the LMS developed by Coggno makes it possible for course makers and facilitators to utilize Rapid Intake Unison in creating astonishing learning materials for all learners.

An educator need not be afraid of technology any longer as Rapid Intake Unison makes it easy for someone to create wonderful modules in order to entice their students to study and learn. Coggno’s LMS has surely brought learning to the next level by making the interface easy to navigate for all educators and content developers.

BB Flashback enables content developers to create video modules by creating screen recordings and present step-by-step instructions on how to move around a specific application or system.

A holistic tool is made available by Coggno’s LMS toolkit as it enables users to create podcasts, maintain question banks, create rich video content, and maintain assessments and quizzes and multi-media training modules with very affordable packages. It also is on a pay-per-use basis and no up-front payments are required in order to get an institution utilize its functions.

Most institutions are afraid of entering into purchase agreements with penalties if terminated early. Just like a service contract, there could be fees involved if one is to enter onto these kinds of agreements.

This is where the pay-per-use systems come into play. They make institutions pay only for systems they need, when they need them. This makes perfect sense most especially on holiday breaks where demand for LMS systems usually fall.

No contracts and early termination fees are put into play – this is where everything falls in. Coggno is in a fair advantage over its competitors if this is the case.

Author and send LMS Training to your company trainees through Coggno’s LMS.
